The Family Letter

Merry Christmas to Friends and Family,

We hope this letter finds you all well and enjoying the Holiday Season.

This past year has been eventful.   The most significant was the passing of LaRee.  She is missed.  We feel it especially this time of year.  She truly loved Christmas and added so much to our family at Christmastime as well as always.  Fortunately, we know that because of Christmas and of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we have the peace of knowing where she is and that she is reunited with her husband and many loved ones.   And we will see her again.

We had many tender mercies this past year.  One was a trip we took to Arizona and California.  LaRee came along with Mikel and some of his family.  We had an amazing visit with Aunt Ivy, her son Danny, LaRee’s brother Dean and his wife, Mia.

After that we drove to California and visited with LaRee’s sister, Barbara, and her family.  We then spent a few days in Disneyland.   Our little family met up with some friends from home and spent some time with them.  (Thanks Kent and Deanne for the fabulous time!)  LaRee was able to come to Disneyland one day.

With my side of the family, we had our usual annual Erickson camp at Payson lakes.  The day our family arrived we were informed that some of the members of our camp had seen a bear.   After many attempts by the Forest Rangers to trap the bear, we were kicked out of camp and had to pack up quickly.  However, our family was on the news that night.  My mom (who celebrated her 80th birthday this year) composed a “touching” song to “The Bear came over the mountain” She asked us not to sing it in public so I’ll refrain writing the words.

As for us, Marc is still working for DHI Computing.  He stays busy with church and family.  We are also STILL remodeling our home and he is continuously working on projects around the house.  We appreciate all that he does.

I am fortunate to be a stay at home mom.  I find plenty to do…keeping up with the kids, housework, church, blogging ( as well as volunteering in the schools.

Mikaela is a Junior at Mountain View.  She enjoys volleyball, friends, and playing the piano.  She is kind to all and the peacemaker of our home.

Chelsie is a Freshman at Maeser Prepatory Academy. She is on the Debate Team.  She was able to bring home some awards from tournaments.  She is a good sister to Braden and Jaycie as she is found helping them with their homework.

Alyssa is in 7th grade at Maeser Prepatory Academy.  She is on the student council and ballroom dance and has made many new friends.  She adds laughter and music to our home with her humor and singing.

Braden is in 3rd grade.  He got baptized in May. He is involved in Scouts and loves to skateboard. He likes to help the family by doing little acts of unexpected service around the house.

Jaycie is in 1st grade and absolutely loves it.  She is a great reader.  She adds lots of joy to our home by her hugs and smiles.

Well that’s it for this year.    Please know that we are so glad you are in our lives and wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

With love,

The Minor Family

The Question

Do you little Jesus that you are a King?
You will work with your hands.
The lame man will walk away, the blind man will see.
Do you that you will heal me?

Do you know your life will be spent serving others?
And blessing the people with love.
Your ministry will be a heartfelt plea
Simply saying,"Come Follow Me"?

Do you know will suffer as no man could do?
from the pains of all our sins.
And there in a place called Gethsemane
Your agony, your blood, will set me free?

Do you know you will be rejected by your own?
Cruelly your hands upon the cross.
Possessing the power to cause your relief
You willingly suffer and die among theives?

Do you know little Jesus that you will live again?
From mortal afflictions and death.
Breaking the chains as you come forth from the grave
And with your rebirth, I can be saved?

Do you know that I wait for your coming once more
To see you with gladness and joy.
That in that great day when you shall reign
I will not want to hide with my shame?

So little Jesus on this holy night
As I come to adore your sweet face
The question is for me to answer anew..
Oh, little Jesus, Do I know you?

5 Day Walk to Bethlehem

5 Day Walk to Bethlehem

Do an activity a day until Christmas Day

Then take the 1st letters of each GREEN word to spell what we do when we arrive in Bethlehem

Pray for guidance for a specific challenge, or to increase your faith and testimony.  Remember to do your part.

Draw bnear unto me and I will draw near unto you; cseek me diligently and ye shall dfind me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

But, behold, I say unto you, that you must astudy it out in your bmind; then you must cask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your dbosom shall eburn within you; therefore, you shall ffeel that it is right. ( Doctrine and Covenants 9:8)

Do an act of service without telling anyone

My little children, let us not love in word, aneither in tongue; but in bdeed and in truth.    (1 John 3:18)

Open your eyes to see the “goodness and glory of God”  Write in your journal what God has done for you.  Watch on the Church video from President Henry B. Eyring  “O Remember, Remember

And he caused that the priests should assemble themselves together; and they began to fast, and to pray to the Lord their God that he would open the mouth of Alma, that he might speak, and also that his limbs might receive their strength—that the eyes of the people might be opened to see and know of the goodness and glory of God. (Mosiah 27:22)

Remember the Atoning Sacrifice of the Savior, Listen carefully and ponder the Sacrament Prayers

O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and asanctify this bbread to the souls of all those who partake of it; that they may eat in cremembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the dname of thy Son, and always remember him, and keep his commandments which he hath given them, that they may always have his eSpirit to be with them. Amen. (Moroni 4:3)

O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee, in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this awine to the souls of all those who drink of it, that they may do it in bremembrance of the cblood of thy Son, which was shed for them; that they may witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they do always remember him, that they may have his dSpirit to be with them. Amen. (Moroni 5:2)

Think of His example and choose a gift that you will give to Him to become more like Him. Write or color your gift to the Savior this year

Born in a stable, cradled in a manger, He came forth from heaven to live on earth as a mortal man and to establish the kingdom of God. During His earthly ministry, He taught men the higher law. His glorious gospel reshaped the thinking of the world. He blessed the sick; He caused the lame to walk, the blind to see, the deaf to hear. He even raised the dead to life.

What was the reaction to His message of mercy, His words of wisdom, His lessons of life? There were a precious few who appreciated Him. They bathed His feet. They learned His word. They followed His example (President Thomas S. Monson)
