FHE October: Prayer,Prepare and Promises

FHE Lesson October

Joseph Smith History 1:9-19

            Have a question before Conference

True to the Faith pg 123 “Receiving Answers to Prayers”

1. Members of the Church are entitled to personal revelation as they listen to and study the inspired words spoken at general conference.

As you prepare for general conference, I invite you to ponder questions you need to have answered. For example, you might yearn for direction and guidance by the Lord regarding challenges you are facing.

Answers to your specific prayers may come directly from a particular talk or from a specific phrase. At other times answers may come in a seemingly unrelated word, phrase, or song. A heart filled with gratitude for the blessings of life and an earnest desire to hear and follow the words of counsel will prepare the way for personal revelation. (President Dieter F. Uchtdorf)

Decide now to make general conference a priority in your life. Decide to listen carefully and follow the teachings that are given. Listen to or read the talks more than once to better understand and follow the counsel. By doing these things, the gates of hell will not prevail against you, the powers of darkness will be dispersed from before you, and the heavens will shake for your good.(Paul V. Johnson-Quorum of the Seventy)

Your question:

Discussion and testimony
Treat:  Soft Pretzels dipped in frosting
Share the story of the origin of pretzels
(Pretzels were first made by monks who gave them as rewards to children who had learned their prayers. The special twisted shape looks like the folded arms of a child praying. The word pretzel means reward. dltk website)
