Another story of Love. This time between a father and son. The dad and son are pretty much competing against each other of who loves who best. Of course the dad gets the final word.

Monday Musings: My Happy Place

Our family is fortunate to have some really great friends. Our good friends Kent and DeeAnn offered to take Mikaela to Disneyland for her graduation. Kent and DeeAnn are avid Disneyland fans and make it there 3 or 4 times a year.
Somehow they talked me into going as well with Mikaela. Not that I didn't want to go, but I just felt a little guilty getting away from my family...etc. but DeeAnn said I needed Palm Tree Therapy. Yes I did.
Being at Disneyland was a lot of fun. Of course it is the "happiest place on earth". I love it there. It is happy. It is magical. And I was grateful for the chance to get away.
Now I'm home yet I have decided each day I will create my own happiest place on earth...with me. I will make each day a happy one. Each day I battle Depression, sickness, I feel I have to fight daily, hourly at times just to be happy.
So my plan is to take each day and create, my happy day.
How? Well I've divided my "happiness" into 4 categories: (1) Physical, (2) Mental, (3) Emotional, and (4) Spiritual.
I write goals each day that will help me have a fulfilled happy day in each category.
For example today my goals were:
1. Physical: exercize
2. Mental or Creative: blog (I'm doing it! I'm blogging happily ...:)
3. Emotional: Meals on Wheels (service!) and positive affirmations
4. Spiritual: Prayer, scripture study and family home evening.
It was a great day. Was it a struggle at times? Yes, of course, at times. But I look forward to a happy tommorrow.
As Walt Disney himself stated Happiness is a state of mind...." . I may not be in Disneyland but I can be in that "state".

Wednesday Review: Love you Forever
Great book for Valentine's season. It illustrates the love a parent has for their children. Even when the boy has grown up the mom sneaks into his house via ladder to sing to him. I don't think normal parents would do that, but it just shows in a way a child can understand the depth of a mom or dad's love. The song that's repeated in the book "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living my baby you'll be" is such a nice way for any parent to express their love as they read to their children.

Five For Friday: The Kids
It was Grandma's birthday, we hadn't updated our wall photos for 2 years, It was 5 degrees outside and so we felt like it was a perfect time to take pictures of the kids.
Marc was a good sport and took them up to Provo Canyon and took pictures in the freezing cold. I stayed home (I was smart..I mean sick....see previous post on "Grace").
Seriously, I was sick and so I appreciate Marc and the kids doing this for my mom and for our wall. We do them in black in white cuz it looks good in the frames, we gave my mom ones in color.
Okay this one was actually taken at Build a Bear. The ones we took of him that day didn't turn out and this captured Braden's personality
Taken on the side of our house

The 3 older girls pictures were taken up Provo Canyon...This is a picture of how wintery it was up there.

Monday Musings; My Friend "Grace"
So it's been a long time since I've updated my blog. Oh I could give so many excuses, and I will just bear with me.
The last ...what probably two months I have been sick. Along with the sickness, my depression peaked worse than I have experienced in years. Therefore blogging has not been my thing lately.
The other day I was reading in "True to the Faith" . I just happened to read about Grace. Yes that word that I seem to forget mostly all the time. She's like this friend I never call, even though she's always like, "I'm here if you need me, just let me know and I will help". And I'm like," I'm working here trying to labor all my days through the pain. I'll take of care of my own healing. My own salvation, thank you very much. I'm strong enough, I have enough faith... blah blah blah."
Yes that's me refusing this great gift of grace that has been given so lovingly by my Savior. It's his grace that is not only nice to have, it's essential.
Here's the definition from True to the Faith. First it talks how we need Grace for our own salvation, but then it continues;
In addition to needing grace for your ultimate salvation, you need this enabling power every day of your life. As you draw near to your Heavenly Father in diligence, humility, and meekness, He will uplift and strengthen you through His grace Reliance upon His grace enables you to progress and grow in righteousness. Jesus Himself “received not of the fulness at first, but continued from grace to grace, until he received a fulness” Grace enables you to help build God’s kingdom, a service you cannot give through your strength or means alone.
I thought that was pretty comforting, and then it goes on to say;
If you ever become discouraged or feel too weak to continue living the gospel, remember the strength you can receive through the enabling power of grace. You can find comfort and assurance in these words of the Lord: “My grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them
Wow the strength you can recieve through the enabling power of grace. I will make Grace my friend
I'm still working through some depression, but I feel the Savior's love and healing power in my life and know that He who has bore all things will be there if I just let Him.
So you know I can't usually "Muse on Mondays" without a song. A Song I've been playing in my head lately is The Lord is my Light', particularly the 3rd verse:
The Lord is my light; the Lord is my strength.

My weakness in mercy he covers with pow'r,
And, walking by faith, I am blest ev'ry hour
